Generally, the easiest way to manage a missed connection is to reach out to the air carrier agents at the airport. They know the situation better, as well as have at hand and sometimes have more freedom of action in providing a solution for you. If you get stuck in a long line at the airport, call your airline or contact its online customer service department.

When air carriers provide a route solution with one or more connecting flights to get you from point A to point B, all connections in between are ‘protected’. If one of the flights under the same booking is delayed and you cannot get to your next plane, the airline will take care of you and will make sure you make it to your destination.

Passengers affected by such issues are in many cases, offered a different flight to their point of destination or accommodation and other arrangements depending on the situation. The rules of air carriers related to this matter depend. Sometimes getting a refund for the trip may also be an option.
