Personal items brought on board

Under the category of “Personal Items” usually fall items like a notebook bag, camera bag, purse (or other products of this approximate size.)

Today airlines frequently permit their clients to enter the plane with one such item, in addition to the cabin bag.

The below-named comply with the “personal item” term: a laptop computer carrying case, camera bag, purse, briefcase, backpack, etc.

It’s important to check whether this item will fit in the overhead bin, where it must be stored for the time of the flight

(In case it doesn’t you’ll need to return to the gate and check it.)

We highly advise you to read the baggage guidelines of each airline that are listed in your route, in order to take advantage of useful information like:

(a) the maximal size of your personal item, that may differ (let’s take United and American Airlines as an example, the first one allows personal items of the following size: 17 x 10 x 9 inches while the second stands with these sizes 18 x 14 x 8 inches)

(b) a list of items that may be taken during the flight for free and do not count as a personal item (everything depends on the airline, however it could refer to a jacket and/or umbrella, food or merchandise purchased at the airport, book, medical devices, child safety seat, etc.)

(c) extra fees and payments linked with the additional items you may prefer to bring on board.
